The big question then, How to set achievable goals according to our resources? To answer this question, we introduce the SMART objectives, the ideal way to determine business goals taking into account resources, growth, time and other variables.

It’s common in every company that by the time to set goals we tend to put them higher than necessary, having in mind that if we accomplish at least 80% of our plan it will be enough to achieve what we really want for a sales periods in pumps.

However, this only shows that we do not have enough confidence in our equipment and processes to determine objectives and fulfill them completely.

The big question then, How to set achievable goals according to our resources? To answer this question, we introduce the SMART objectives, the ideal way to determine business goals taking into account resources, growth, time and other variables.

What are Smart goals?

The concept of "SMART goals" refers to an acronym in which is used by various industries because of their high efficiency and objectivity, in addition to be a very practical resource and certainly can be a great tool for managers of any area.

According to its acronym:

S is for Specific: The goal should be detailed. Identifies the precise aspect of the performance to be improved in order.

M is for Measurable: There must be an specific KPI or any type measurement unit for the purpose, and it has to be communicate to anyone involved.

A is for Assignable: The responsability can be assignto someone on your team (or group of people) to be responsible for achieving it.

R is for Realistic: While we all love the great success, SMART goals are those that can be achieved realistically, considering the financial or time conditions.

T is for Time: Your goal should come with a delivery date that has a specific day, month, trimester and year schedule. This will make lot asier to determine how everything is going.

What makes "SMART goals" so important?

Normally, the real importance of a goal relies in how you create both an action plan to get what you’re looking for, and a support tool for measuring progress toward that destination. For a clearer perspective, if you go to a city you’ve never been, you’ll never forget that having a detailed map to guide your way it’s going to make everything much easier, that’s the importance of a SMART goal.

How to set SMART goals for your company?

Make brainstorm to determine all objectives small and major ones. Then measures each potential target by the paradigms of SMART. After being as detail as possible and analyzing with directors from areas the possible results, you will know if that action could be relevant or not to the company and how to perform it.

Finally, set a delivery time and assigns the goal to the right person or team. periodically check the progress yourself and asks for feedback to help your team to be synchronized.

Remember that feasibility of achieving an specific goal is determine by how good a previous strategy was made.
